HOW TO CLEAN LEATHER BAGS
Our leather handbags are special and therefore require special treatment. Just like your own skin likes to be pampered so does your leather bag. That is why maintenance of your leather bags and other small leather goods is so crucial. We want you to enjoy them for times to come.
The general principle to clean leather bags is to use a damp cloth. Then gently remove all dirt build-up by wiping your designer bag. Once a week, try to give it a gentle brisk sweep. This will make for wonders in preserving the appearance of your leather.
Think of conditioning as a moisturiser for your leather handbag. To prevent flaking or wrinkling, use a soft cloth and rub gently all over. Choose the product which stimulates and supplements the natural oils of leather. Leave on for 10 minutes, then wipe off the excess. Dry thoroughly. Try to condition every month or so to keep your leather looking its shiny best.
Conditioner can be used on most smooth leathers but should NOT be used on any suede, metallic, embossed, vegetable tanned or patent leathers. Test the conditioner first on an inconspicuous part of your item before applying it completely.
La Pelle recommends storing leather handbags in our signature dust bag when not in use. Never store your leather items in plastic as they cannot breathe, and always store them in a cool, dry place away from heat or sun.
